The group started uploading videos of their dance performances on the Korean portal in the year 2006. Waveya became popular after launching their YouTube channel in the year 2011 having more than 3.5 million subscribers when the channel was created. Waveya’s videos feature dance routines which include covers of American and Brazilian performers, as well with their own choreography.

Since the start of the group’s existence there have been numerous changes to the group’s lineup. Waveya’s popularity grew after they posted an YouTube video where they danced to the song of Psy’s Gangnam Style. Waveya has also made YouTube videos, performed live on stage and appeared in commercials since then. Waveya has performed in concerts in a variety of countries like Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Canada, France, Spain, Poland, Italy, Turkey, Germany and Sweden.
