Waveya gained popularity after creating their YouTube channel in 2011, amassing over 3.5 million viewers since the channel was launched. The videos of Waveya feature dance routines that feature covers of American and Brazilian musicians, aswell with their own choreography.

Since the start of the group There have been a lot of changes to the lineup. Waveya’s popularity started to increase as soon as they uploaded the video on YouTube, in which they performed to Psy’s popular song Gangnam Style. Since that time, Waveya has produced YouTube videos, held concerts, and made some commercials. Waveya has performed live across many countries, including the United States, Korea, Indonesia, Canada and France.
